I Timothy 2:1-2: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
The Bible directs Christian believers to pray for “kings and for all that are in authority” (I Timothy 2:1-2). In this season, we have an opportunity to pray for one member of the New York State Senate who is experiencing health challenges.
On November 6, 2019, Sen. James Seward (R-Oneonta) announced that he is being treated for cancer. First elected in 1986, the Senator represents the 51st Senate District in Central New York. Sen. Seward was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and received treatment at that time; however, his cancer has since recurred. The Senator has indicated that he will be receiving cancer treatment for the next several weeks that will place limits on his availability, but that his offices will remain open. Sen. Seward states that he looks forward “‘to completion of my treatment protocol and returning shortly to serve the good people of the 51st Senatorial District as we anticipate the start of the new legislative session.’”
Friends, please keep Sen. Seward and his family in your prayers.
