NYFRF Announces Return Of In-Person Legislative Day

New Yorkers, we have exciting news!

Remember Legislative Day, New Yorker’s Family Research Foundation’s annual Albany event? This year, Legislative Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

NYFRF’s last in-person Legislative Day was held on March 19, 2019. More than 1,000 New Yorkers were in attendance. That day, we delivered more than 20,000 petitions to then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office calling for the repeal of the abortion expansion law known as the Reproductive Health Act. As Albany Update reported, “the sound of hymns filled the Senate Staircase in the Capitol as New York’s Christians worshiped the Lord with song after song outside Gov. Cuomo’s office.” It was a beautiful event.

NYFRF was scheduled to hold a Legislative Day event in 2020, but the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to cancel it on four days’ notice. Because we could not hold large in-person events during the height of the pandemic, we held Digital Days of Action in 2021 and 2022.

Historically, Legislative Day has been NYFRF’s largest event of the year. In many ways, it forms the centerpiece of our work in Albany. Legislative Day allows us to make a face-to-face connection with like-minded Christians from every corner of the Empire State. Legislative Day also communicates to Albany lawmakers that Christians care about their government. Just as importantly, Legislative Day helps attendees to realize that they are not alone in standing for life, family, and freedom. For all these reasons, we are deeply grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to hold an in-person Legislative Day again.

We had hoped to hold Legislative Day on Tuesday, March 14, but were unable to secure the Convention Center on that date. Given that a severe winter storm hit Albany that day, we are thankful that we were unable to schedule the event then. In fact, we believe that the Lord in his divine providence protected us from having to endure another Legislative Day cancellation.

This year, NYFRF will welcome an excellent roster of Legislative Day speakers, including author, speaker, and executive Craig DeRoche President and CEO of Family Policy Alliance; children’s urban outreach ministers Mike and Julia Peace, executive leaders at Bethel Express; and other soon-to-be-announced speakers. In addition, we are promising an exciting major announcement about our organization.
