Government Leaders Study the Bible In Washington, D.C.—And in Albany

Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Every person needs the Lord’s guidance. Given the challenging schedules, difficult decisions, partisan attacks, and temptations faced by men and women who hold positions in government, their need for wisdom and instruction from God’s Word is even more obvious. That is why it’s so encouraging to hear reports that there is a regular Bible study in Washington, D.C. attended by some members of the Trump Administration.

A recent article reports that “Ralph Drollinger, the founder of Capitol Ministries [leads] a weekly Bible study with Cabinet members such as [Attorney General Jeff Sessions], Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and CIA Director Mike Pompeo.” Even “Vice President [Mike] Pence, who is a sponsor of the faith sessions, reportedly joins the group when his schedule allows.” According to, “Drollinger, a former NBA player, founded his organization with the intent of spreading the Christian faith to lawmakers across the U.S.”

We’re thankful for this Bible study in Washington, and for the similar Bible study that is provided to Members of the New York State Legislature by our organization, New Yorker’s Family Research Foundation. Since 2013, Pastor Dale Walker has served as NYFRF’s Legislative Chaplain. Pastor Dale preaches to Members of the Legislature at weekly Legislative Prayer Breakfasts during the months of January through June. Pastor Dale also visits with legislators individually to share the Gospel with them and pray with them. During the latter half of the year, Pastor Dale keeps in touch with legislators by sending biweekly e-mails with teachings on various Scripture passages. NYFRF is thankful for Pastor Dale, and for the multi-denominational, multi-ethnic, and multi-partisan group of elected officials that attends the Legislative Prayer Breakfasts.

Please pray that these Bible studies—and others like them that meet in state capitals across the nation—will be well-led, well-attended, and edifying. And, if you appreciate our efforts to influence legislators for the Lord Jesus Christ, please consider financially partnering with this ministry.
